STORY ONE

Born This Way is the second major release by Lady Gaga, released on May 23, 2011. The writing of the album took place in 2010 during The Monster Ball Tour. Preceding its release, the album's lead single and title track, "Born This Way", debuted on February 11, 2011.

In Gaga's own words, the album is "much more vocally up to par with what I’ve always been capable of. It’s more electronic, but I have married a very theatrical vocal to it. It’s like a giant musical-opus theater piece."

As of June 1, 2011, Born This Way had become the fastest-selling album worldwide in 2011. With 288,000 copies sold on its first day and 1,108,000 in its first week in the U.S., it has sold more that 1 million copies outside the U.S. The album has also debuted at the top spot in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan.

Unlike the rest of us, Lady Gaga apparently doesn’t need sleep. Despite the fact that its only been four months since she released her smash album Born This Way, Gaga is a apparently already working on that album’s follow-up and she recently told Ryan Seacrest her forthcoming album will come out “sooner rather than later.”

“I’m actually already working on my next album,” she told him during their interview, “so I’ve been working on that. I’ve been planning the next tour, which keeps me very excited and busy because I have lots of new ideas, and I know exactly how I want it to look.”

Not content to stop there she also added, “I’m also planning my next music video. I have lots of things to do, but in truth, I feel like I’m the most alive when I’m onstage.” While it’s still far too early to put a release date on Gaga’s next album her manager Troy Carter recently stated that the singer could be going all Radiohead on us with her next disc when it comes to pricing.

If it was up to me, I’d give away the next album and put it on every handset that I can put it on,” the forward-thinking Carter said last week during the f8 conference in San Francisco. “You can’t be scared to fail. Sometimes we’re going to get big results, and sometimes you learn a lesson, make an adjustment and move on.”

Lady gaga said “I wrote so many songs on this new album about New York City, but one in particular ‘Marry The Night,’ that record is about my husband, New York,” she told MTV prior to the album release.

“You know, we’ve been working together for years, so I’m so excited. I feel like, you and I have yet to have our big hit record,” Gaga said of collaborating with Garibay. “I kept saying to him, ‘I don’t want to do anything I’ve done before. I don’t want to sound like anything I’ve done before.’”

“He goes ‘Your show is a religion and your fans are a cult,’” she recalled. “And I heard these church bells. It’s this epic music. It’s just so big. And I started to cry. He said, ‘What’s wrong?’ And I said,’I can’t believe that you hear me so big.’ ”

“It’s like Whitney, but imagine if Bruce Springsteen had a baby with Whitney Houston — that’s what it is,” she added. “And that was it! We made a baby. Finally. After all that fornication, miserably long and tedious, Fernando and I finally conceived.”

“Marry The Night” debuted on Billboard’s top 100 singles back in May, when it reached number 79 due to strong digital sales following the release of Born This Way.
